Korean War Veterans Remembrance Ceremony(South Korea National Liberation Day) was Held

The Korea-U.S. Federation (AKUS), a Korean-American organization that is working to strengthen the Korea-U.S. alliance and develop liberal democracy, held a "South Korea National Liberation Day" at the Korean War Memorial in Jersey City, New Jersey, on the 16th.

The ceremony, which began with the opening declaration by Kim Young-gil, president of the Korea-U.S. Federation, was followed by the opening of the Taegeukgi and the American flag, followed by the singing of the national anthem of the U.S. and the national anthem (Soprano Kim Soo-jung), the reading of a commemorative speech by Consul General Kim Eui-hwan (Vice Consul General Lee Sang-ho), and the reading of the poem by adviser Lee Ho-je of the Korea-U.S. Federation. The Korea-U.S. Federation then moved to the front of Jersey City Hall and held a "Flag Raising Ceremony" to commemorate the 78th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule from the balcony. Participants, including Kim Kwang-seok, chairman of the Korean Association in New York, and Kim Young-gil, chairman of the Korea-U.S. Federation, who climbed onto the balcony in front of the city hall, raised the Korean national flag and the American flag above the sky in front of the city hall with heated cheers.

The Korea-U.S. Federation said, "The Taegeukgi ceremony is an event organized by the Korea-U.S. Federation after being transferred from the organization that has been in charge of the event, and will be held every year as a commemorative event for the Liberation Day of August 15. The memorial service for veterans, which was temporarily suspended, was held as a face-to-face event this year to remember and commemorate the noble sacrifices of Korean War veterans as the pandemic ended."
