AKUS is
AKUS is a 501c3 non-profit independent organization established in 2021 to promote democracy in Korea and the United States. AKUS is a civic group that pursues stronger Korea-U.S. relations through cooperation in society, culture, education, and other private sectors. AKUS is an international organization located in Korea and several states and cities in the United States.
The present problem
Historically, the ROK-U.S. alliance valued military cooperation, but focused little on civilian matters. There is a need to strengthen the ROK-U.S. relationship through cooperation in social, cultural, and other civilian areas.
threat to liberal democracy
Chairman Kim's regime avoids espionage and continues to pursue communist reunification on the Korean Peninsula with military force. North Korea's nuclear weapons programs threaten peace on the Korean Peninsula and the world. Efforts to pursue 'peace on the Korean Peninsula' without North Korea's denuclearization are continuing.
Our Vision
Democracy is a core value that gives people political and economic freedom, a comfortable lifestyle, and peace without fear and threats. AKUS will help Korea and the U.S. save democratic values for global citizens.
Our Mission
Our mission is to complement Korea's development and prosperity by further strengthening the friendship of the people of both countries, focusing on protecting democracy and preventing communism in Korea and the world.
Our Goal
1. To protect and promote democracy in Korea, the U.S., and around the world: Democracy provides an environment where people can live freely. AKUS protects democracy by supporting the democratic values of its people.
2. To strengthen the alliance between the U.S. and Korea: The U.S. and Korea have been in an alliance for over 70 years. This alliance has helped Korea prosper now. AKUS will help the Korea-U.S. partnership more importantly.
3. Cooperative Projects for Mutual Benefits: Korea is one of the most important strategic and economic partners of the United States in Asia. Developing joint projects will help the two countries prosper.
4. Promoting Cooperation for Global Cultural Exchange, Peace, and Prosperity: AKUS will work with the United States to help Korea and the world.
AKUS determination
Over the past 70 years, the security and prosperity of the Republic of Korea have evolved from the establishment of a liberal democracy based on the Korea-U.S. alliance. However, the Korea-U.S. alliance, which is the foundation of a liberal democratic Republic of Korea, is facing a serious crisis. AKUS, an international non-governmental private organization aimed at preventing the communistization of the Republic of Korea and continuing its national development and prosperity by strengthening the solidarity of the Korea-U.S. alliance, will be launched.
If the South Korea-U.S. alliance collapses, South Korea's security barrier will lead to collapse, and furthermore, the nation's foundation, liberal democracy and market economy, will go down an irreversible path. There have been voices emphasizing the importance of the South Korea-U.S. alliance by meaningful people, but there has been a limit to the lack of clarity in the method and direction and ineffectiveness.
As a result, I proposed the launch of AKUS.
* The purpose of the launch
Between the United States and Israel, there is the international NGO 'AIPAC' (Public Policy Committee of the United States and Israel). AKUS intends to build an organization that makes a good history between Korea and the United States in the spirit of a common destiny of liberal democracy, unaffected by political situations, based on AIPAC. Looking back on history, the ROK-US alliance has emphasized the military aspect, while the organization and system at the civilian level have been lacking. AKUS seeks to strengthen the ROK-US ties, including social and cultural cooperation in addition to the security of the two countries. For a long time, it has its General Headquarters in New Jersey, USA, and its Korean Headquarters in Korea.
* Business objectives and organizational organization
The AKUS aims to 1) defend liberal democracy 2) strengthen bilateral ties between South Korea and the U.S. 3) develop bilateral cooperation projects 4) promote cooperation for peace and prosperity in local communities. The AKUS comprises Koreans in Korea, Koreans in the U.S., and Americans who love and support Korea.
For the future of our beloved Republic of Korea, we would like to invite those who deeply recognize the importance of the Korea-U.S. alliance, which is the basic axis of security, as executives and members of AKUS.
Let's stick together and act on the 'South Korea-U.S. Alliance'. Thank you.
